Governments offering cash incentives to improve compliance

New government incentives will make it cheaper and easier for businesses to meet compliance obligations under the ASI’s Steelwork Compliance Australia (SCA) and Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) schemes.

WA local capability fund

Businesses can receive up to 50% of the cost of third-party certification for ISO standards including AS/NZS 5131 under SCA and the following under SSA:

  • ISO 9001 - Quality management standards to help work more efficiently and reduce product failures;
  • ISO 14001 - Environmental management standard to help reduce environmental impacts, reduce waste and be more sustainable;
  • ISO 45001 - Health and safety standards to help reduce accidents in the workplace;

Qld manufacturing sustainability benchmark program

The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development is coordinating business assessments on energy and water usage, waste management, and carbon emissions so you can benchmark your business against industry best practise. This will enable you to understand your environmental footprint, identify actions you can take to reduce your footprint, improve operational efficiency and can result in potential cost savings for your business.

NSW bin trim equipment rebates program 

Rebates up to $50,000 are being offered to cover up to 50% of the cost of small-scale, on-site equipment or technology that avoids, reduces, reuses, or recycles waste. The initiative is aimed at supporting businesses to transition to a circular economy. Bin Trim audits can also help your business comply with SSA Credit 5.1 Resource Management. NSW SafeWork small business rebate eligible safety items

Small businesses can access a $1,000 rebate to purchase eligible safety items to make the workplace safer, including managing or eliminating hazards and risks that may cause serious injury, illness or death at work. The rebate only applies to safety items on the eligible items list.

NSW heat pump feasibility grant 

Eligible NSW businesses can use this grant to assess whether a heat pump is a feasible option for their site. You can apply for up to $30,000 to cover 75% of the project costs.
