Dynamic Welding unlocks government work with SSA

Dynamic Welding (DW) says it hasn’t looked back since completing the ASI’s Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) scheme, with SSA certification opening a door to new government work. “Getting the qualification is a great thing as it makes you look over your whole business structure and find any short comings, which allows you to be a more efficient in all factors,” production manager Jordain Lampert said. With government departments increasingly requiring certification as a condition of tendering for projects, Jordain said SSA certification had allowed DW to expand the projects it would be eligible to quote on and stay competitive in its field.

“It is not about ticking off certification as a process to win work. You must be ready to adopt the changes and improvements, which can present challenges with some staff members and some policy implementation. We closely work with staff to ensure there is ownership and follow through.”

Jordain, who runs the ins and outs of steel fabrication at DW and keeps all the floor staff moving forward, shares floor management responsibilities with operations manager Bailey Love, who assists in quoting, runs all transport, makes sure the onsite erection is running smoothly. and ensures the company hits all of its onsite date targets.

Located in Dandenong South in Victora, DW provides structural steel to a range of markets including industrial buildings, general steel and metal fabrication and car parks. Bailey said the company strives to fabricate steel in the most efficient and sustainable way.  “This is achieved by our in-house draftspersons supplying accurate and fast information to minimise the amount of steel that is used. The factory is also equipped with a large amount of solar panels to reduce our carbon emissions.”
